Experience per fin type

CHR-L

With this of fin, I was able to do 30+ sessions. Sizes 26, 27 32, 33, 35. The best way to describe this fin is the following. The CHR-L fin gives your board a perfect lift and easy control. You can rail the board, however, no need to push really hard on the fin. When planing, the fin takes care of not lifting too much. So, for light and medium winds, this fin has given me a lot of fun. For optimal effect of the fin, you need to have a certain speed, let's see around 30-35 km/h

With this of fin, I was able to do 50+ sessions. Sizes 24, 28, 31, 32, 35, 36,5. The CHR-M needs a bit more wind. However, when you have a proper windy day, this friend will take care of full control. You can push as hard as you can and you won't get any spinouts, even at high speeds. Compared to the CHR-M you actually feel the fin accelerating when a wind gust kicks in. For a medium slalom board, a 36 or 37 length is perfect. I have been able to increase my speed on medium care a lot.
In lighter winds, or with less speed and less pressure on the fin, you might experience a 'loose' feeling. Not a spinout, just a bit slippery. this will totally disappear when your speed increases. 

CHR-M

With this of fin, I was able to do 20+ sessions. Sizes 37, 40,44,45. Now this is an interesting fin. Gasoil suggests only using this fin when you are a bit more eXperienced. The CHR-X feels a bit software in the tip of the fin. This allows you to easily lift the board, even in lighter winds. Imagine in a slalom race, many gibes after only a few hundred meters, this fin gives you the perfect lift and control when rounding a buoy. Surprisingly ease of use and control where fast turns and quick acceleration is needed. Personally, I prefer the CHR-X when it's deep water with a heavy chop. 

CHR-X

Since January 2022 I was fortunate to do 40+ sessions with this great fin. Philippe (Gasoil founder) has spent 3 years of development to create a fin who is performing the same or even better compared to the other slalom fins of Gasoil while using 4-5 cm less length. please, find all the tech info here. Used sizes are 28, 32,33,36, and 40. So, for example when using an 85cm wide board, a 40cm dual fin is sufficient to keep the board planing, completely in control. The feeling is really amazing, while you are not expecting this behavior of a small fin. the board lifts perfectly, speed is good and very good on a half-wind course.

ELS Speed Sym

Gasoil has developed a symmetrical speed vin. After 10+ sessions with this type of fin using the 24 and 28 cm, my experience is as follows: This fin is a speed vin that performs the best in a broad direction. Similar to the CHR-M this fin needs quite a bit of wind before it actually starts functioning. This fin basically needs a basic amount of pressure generated by your speed. Would recommend this fin if you are using a speed board and are able to use it on flat water.

After 50 + sessions with the asymmetric Gasoil ELS fin, I can only say I just love them. 21, 22, 23, and 26 cm are the sizes I have been using on several boards. It's a public secret to share, however, many of the speed sessions in Luderitz, especially on the Diaz point, have been made with Gasoil fins. For me, the ELS series gives so much control, no single spin-out, so a lot of confidence when going into a run, which is important. And, even on an upwind course, the fin performs really well. compared to other speed fin brands, it is very easy to sail back to your starting point.
